A heat pump is a device that works by extracting heat from outdoor air and converting it into a useable heat source for use in a commercial building or home. Because the heat pump only uses electricity to power the system rather than for heat generation, it is very economical to run. They can provide great efficiencies, since they often produce 4 kW of heat output, for each 1kW of electricity input.
